COVID-19 Vaccine Update 2023: Pfizer Vaccine

Main Street Pediatrics has received the newest Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19. We, along with the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that all people over the age of 6 months be vaccinated against COVID-19. The updated vaccines should work well against currently circulating variants of COVID-19 and continue to be the best way to protect yourself against severe disease.

If your child has already received the primary Pfizer COVID vaccination series, you only need to receive a single booster vaccine.

If your child is 5 years or older and has never (or only partially) received the COVID vaccine, you only need to receive a single COVID vaccine.

If your child is 6 months to 4 years old and has never received the COVID vaccine, the Pfizer vaccine requires a 3-dose series as follows:

Dose 2 – 3 to 8 weeks after dose 1
Dose 3 – at least 8 weeks after dose 2

If your child has a well visit scheduled soon, we will be able give the COVID vaccine with any other vaccines they are scheduled to receive.

If your child is not scheduled to come in for a well visit before the start of cold and flu season, please call our office to schedule a COVID vaccine visit.
